Modern Cinema

Philippine Cinema

In the year 1980’s, the year when I was born, I can still remember how popular the Philippine Cinema is. There are at least 5 movies in a week, as far as I remember with different genres like the horror, action, comedy and drama.
The cinema back then was as cheap as around P30 or its less than $1 as compared today. I can still remember during those times how my father brings us to the cinema house atleast once every month. The cinema house that we often went does not exist anymore. But the good thing is that it was replaced by a big cinema house by a famous mall here in the Philippines, the SM department store.
If I will compare the cinema before to cinema now, I can say that it has improved a lot. Nowadays, we have the iMax Cinema where in it features a 3 Dimensional Screen.
One great struggle of Cinema now is the competition. There are a lot of small and big companies now of Pirated DVDs all over the Philippines. I think that’s the reason why the Philippine Cinema’s Industry is falling right now.
One more competitor of cinema is the Internet. Since we are living in modern technology now, in just one click of your mouse, you can download a movie that you want, as many as you can. For practical people, they will just stay at home and watch those movies instead of going to cinema house.
I noticed that as compared before there are a lot of movies in the cinema being shown. As of now, a very few producers are interested in making new movies in the cinemas right now.
But honestly, I, even up to now still prefer to watch on cinema as compared to buying DVDs or in the internet. I still can feel and witness the real experience of a specific movie in the cinema as compared to watching it in the internet or in the DVD players.
What important I think here is how the people appreciate the art of the cinema, whether it is in the big screen or not
